Behind the search for every ‘idol’ lies the yearning for completion.
Our world is full of ‘idolism’. It lies everywhere we look – but this is the effect of what we create.
An idol can take the shape of any form. A person, a place, a material possession. When we create an idol with our mind we become immediately unbalanced. To create an idol means that we believe that we are incomplete. Lacking in some way. We admire an ‘idol’ in areas that we do not admire ourselves. Judging ourselves. This is where the imbalance is created.
As we all know – deep within ourselves, we are all equal. So when you begin to observe the world around you & you realise how much ‘idolism’ plays a huge part in our society you can see how inequality has been the effect behind the cause.
When we idolise, we are giving our power away. We are looking to an external to make us feel good. We are putting an external above ourselves. It is a complex sub conscious way of putting ourselves down. Which always adds to the feeling of unworthiness, low self-esteem or under confidence. We don’t believe in ourselves therefore we look to an idol.
Idolism also adds to our limited beliefs about ourselves. We ‘believe’ that we are incapable of achievements or creativity. So we look to an idol admiring what they have achieved and again this adds to our lacking of love for ourselves & the fuel to continuously belittle ourselves.
WE WILL NEVER FEEL COMPLETE WHEN WE SEEK IDOLS.
There is idolism within families. Parents idolise their children or children idolise their parents. Thus creating pedestals. We see that an idol can do no wrong. That they have the answers to every question & have high expectations of them. Again this is not reality. For in this human experience we have to make errors in order to learn.
There is also the pressure that the idols we have created have on their shoulders. This dangerously fuels the idols ego. They too believe that they can do no wrong. The weight of perfectionism is a heavy burden & they will chastise themselves when expectations that have been placed on them are not met.
DO YOU SEE ??
Idols also distract us from ourselves. They distract us from knowing & trusting our own feelings as we often dismiss our intuition to follow the opinion or advice from an idol which will always lead to loss on our behalf.
Idolism can be in the form of drugs or alcohol. The feeling of needing these substances to aid us to relax or to lift us or to escape. Thus creating unhealthy habits mentally & physically. There are so many ways to achieve all of these states of mind. Drugs and alcohol disconnect us with ourselves. They create a lower vibration bringing chaos & unhappiness & the desire for more. We then begin to rely on these substances to be fun or to give us confidence. We bring negative energy into our lives again when we use an external source to feel complete.
Another example of idolism is Christmas. The huge expectations we put on ourselves of having the perfect day. With the perfect roast dinner & the perfect gifts. We break our necks to fill our social diaries all through December of ‘magical’ events that we believe is what makes the spirit of Christmas. We drink – we eat – we consume all the wrong things but hey – its Christmas !!
We spend obscene amounts of money, usually that we havn’t got just so that we will be truly happy & fulfilled on Christmas day.
Christmas is an idol. An image we have created in our minds that will complete us.
How are we not surprised when we suffer with January blues?? Because once again Christmas & the vision of all it brings has not completed us. In fact it has left us feeling low, over weight & skint !! Exhausted & usually sick.
We celebrate our biggest ‘event’ in Winter. We go against every grain of nature to achieve a ‘perfect’ Christmas. It is the busiest time of year for us – a time when the country is darkest. When we are automatically lacking in energy from our life bringing sun. Yet we still strive !!
This huge veil of illusion has been lifted for me & I wanted to write this blog to share what I have discovered. Idols can also be – places. Maybe somewhere you have had an amazing experience & were truly happy but now believe that is the only place you can find happiness. This is the illusion idolism can bring & 1 we all often make with holidays.
I learnt in lock down that holidays are a state of mind !! You can take a holiday at home if you wished. No chores, no work, relax & unwind. You do not need ‘a place’ for this to happen. This is a choice.
The latest car – to make you feel successful. Idolism is everywhere. But we create it !!
To seek a special person or a thing to add to you to make yourself complete only means that you believe there is some part of you missing. And by finding this in an idol you will achieve completion in a form you like.
This is the purpose of an idol; that you will not look beyond it to the source of the belief that you are incomplete. Again it high lights in our world how lacking we are in love for ourselves as individuals. As unique people each & everyone of us.
YOU ARE WHOLE. YOU ARE COMPLETE.
And by recognising your idols you will reveal to yourself where you lack in love for yourself. Where you judge yourself or have limited beliefs.
YOU ARE A LIMITLESS BEING. CAPABLE OF ANYTHING THAT YOU PUT YOUR MIND TOO.
BELIEVE IT – YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT ❤
Thank you for taking time to read… I hope I have planted some seeds ❤
